Student Internships

Gain hands-on experience while making a difference with an internship with River Valley Cooperative. 

If you're looking to connect your education with making advancements to feed the world, consider an internship with River Valley Cooperative. Our interns make an immediate impact helping provide the expertise, products, and services farmers need to grow food to help feed the world. 

From taking field samples and making sales calls to operating equipment, our internship provides an inside look at the daily work that takes place within our agronomy, energy, feed, and grain business units. Interns experience hands-on, real-world experiences that equip them to succeed as they return to classrooms and continue building their careers. 

The search for summer interns begins in September and October at local career fairs, with offers being extended by December. We hire for both agronomy sales roles and operations team members.

Spring and fall operations internships are also available to gain additional work experience. We begin sourcing for spring internships in February with March-June start dates. We source fall internships in August for October-December work needs.

Intern Tuition Reimbursement Program


Effective January 1, 2019, River Valley Cooperative replaced its Scholarship Program with an Intern Tuition Reimbursement Program to provide greater opportunities for area students seeking careers in agriculture. There are two programs available, one for operations interns and one for sales interns, details for both programs are listed below:

Community College Operations Tuition Reimbursement

River Valley Cooperative will offer up to 10 tuition reimbursements of $500 each to students pursuing their Associates in Applied Science, focusing on agriculture. Students are eligible to continue the tuition reimbursement each semester, should they continue to successfully complete River Valley Cooperative's intern work program in that semester and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicants do not have to be a member of River Valley Cooperative to be eligible. 

Tuition reimbursement candidates are subject to interview, passing pre-employment requirements, be hired by River Valley Cooperative, and complete the season to receive funds. Tuition reimbursement recipients must provide a copy of their transcript after successful completion of the following semester. After documentation is received, a check will be issued to the college they are attending and deposited into their student account.

Sales Intern Tuition Reimbursement

River Valley Cooperative will offer up to 10 reimbursements of $750 each to Sales Interns who successfully complete the internship. Tuition reimbursement recipients must be enrolling in an agriculture-related program and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicants do not have to be a member of River Valley Cooperative to be eligible.

Tuition reimbursement candidates are subject to interview, passing pre-employment requirements, be hired by River Valley Cooperative, and complete the season to receive funds. Tuition reimbursement recipients must provide a copy of their transcript after successful completion of the following semester. After documentation is received, a check will be issued to the college they are attending and deposited into their student account.
