Change of Leadership at River Valley Cooperative

The River Valley Cooperative Board of Directors has announced that they have accepted the retirement request of Tom Leiting, CEO/General Manager. Tom has served as General Manager since coming to Eldridge Cooperative, one of River Valley’s parent cooperatives, in 1987. The board thanked Tom for his years of service and contributions to their cooperative’s success. River Valley Cooperative has grown from three locations, and annual sales of $15 million in 1987, to consolidated operations in over 20 communities and sales this fiscal year of $400 million and a net worth in excess of $80 million. During his thirty years of service, the cooperative has delivered exceptional products and services, as well as consistent profitability, enabling both significant reinvestment in assets and the annual return of equity back to its members.

The board also announced, following a due diligence process, their selection of Tim Burress as the new CEO/General Manager of River Valley Cooperative. Tim has served as Vice President and CFO of River Valley for the past eight years. Prior to coming to River Valley, Tim spent 20 years with Deere & Company in a variety of financial leadership roles across multiple divisions. Tim, age 51, grew up on a farm near Princeton, Illinois, and he and his wife, Karen, reside in Geneseo, Illinois. Along with Tim’s role at River Valley, he serves as a board member of CFA, an ag input financing company located in Kansas City, Missouri, in which River Valley is part owner.

River Valley also announces the promotion of Jake Williams, Manager of Financial Reporting, to the role of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, left open with Tim’s promotion to CEO. Jake has been with River Valley for over five years after a regional accounting role with Enterprise Holdings. Jake, his wife Emily, and their family reside in DeWitt, Iowa.

Tom, Tim, and Jake will work together over the next few months transitioning their roles at River Valley Cooperative. Tim and Jake will assume their new roles effective May 1. In addition to transitional items, Tom will continue to be involved and work on key projects/strategies through his departure day of June 30, 2018.
