We are pleased to announce that the 2018 River Valley Cooperative Scholarship Program is now accepting applications. Students seeking two-year and four-year degrees in agriculture related fields are encouraged to apply.
Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to five area high school seniors or college students pursuing four-year degrees in agriculture related fields and nine scholarships for $500 will be offered to high school seniors pursuing two-year degrees in agriculture related fields at Black Hawk East College (Kewanee, IL), Kirkwood Community College (Cedar Rapids, IA), or Muscatine Community College (Muscatine, IA). The $500 scholarships are eligible for renewal based on internship and job shadowing opportunities.
Scholarships are available to students who live within River Valley Cooperative’s trade area, however applicants do not have to be a member of River Valley Cooperative to be eligible. Awards are based on scholastic achievement, demonstration of community and school involvement, knowledge of the cooperative system, and the perceived ability to contribute to agriculture in the future.
Applicants must complete an application form, four essay questions, and provide two letters of recommendation along with a high school or college transcript. Applications and details are available at www.rivervalleycoop.com/scholarships. Applications must be postmarked by January 31, 2018. Scholarship award recipients will be notified by mail before April 1, 2018.
Since forming the River Valley Cooperative Scholarship Program in 2013, $48,000 has been awarded to area students who have chosen a career path in agriculture.
