Bean prices moved higher and finished the day 12-15 cents stronger. Bean support came from Informa Economics which released new estimates on the South American crop prospects. Argentina's production was lowered to 46.5 mmt which was down from their last estimate and down from USDA's current estimate of 50.5 mmt. In addition the Brazilian bean crop was lowered to 70 mmt which is well below USDA's last estimate of 74 mmt. Corn prices were reluctant, but followed soybean prices into the close and finished the session 1-3 cents higher after trading most of day 3-5 cents lower. Informa's numbers on corn for Argentina were 22.5 mmt versus USDA's current 26 mmt. Brazil's production is thought to be 61.6 mmt which is slightly higher than USDA's 61 mmt. Recent rains are expected to have stablilized the corn crop with limited additional losses. Russia announced no limit on feed grain exports which pressured corn and wheat prices.
